A heat wave, Far Cry, and a fan loud enough that if anything really were crying in the distance, I would never know. It is still the $42 OptiPlex 990 from episode one — and I was not going to put more effort into it without getting something back.

Ashamed of running cheap corporate e-waste? At least I own it. With anything modern you do not buy to own anymore — you rent, and you can be kicked off any platform at any moment. This box answers to nobody, and now it does so quietly: the CPU dropped from seventy-four degrees to forty-five. Not that I was worried.
